Cyber alert: fake remote job offers targeting new freelancers
Fraud rings ask for "registration fees" through mobile wallets
By Cyber Safety Team03 Aug 20264 min read
The Cyber Safety Team has issued an alert after a series of reports about fake remote-job offers circulating on messaging apps and social media groups.
The pattern is consistent: a convincing job description, an interview conducted only over chat, and then a request for a "registration", "training kit" or "device deposit" fee through a mobile wallet. Once paid, the recruiter disappears.
Members are asked to verify any employer through the Forum before paying anything, keep screenshots, and report the incident at /cyber/report. Evidence submitted through the portal is preserved with a case number.
No genuine employer requires an advance payment from a freelancer.
